The tariffs will affect imported solar panels, steel, aluminum, and all goods from China with a 60% tariff, and up to 20% on other imports. For John Deere, the tariff was even higher in 2025. However, economists are skeptical, viewing tariffs as inefficient for governments to raise money and promote prosperity. The Peterson Institute for International Economics concluded that Trump’s main tariff proposals would reduce the US economy by more than a percentage point by 2026 and increase inflation by 2% next year. Additionally, food shortages could exacerbate the situation.
