Betsy Wurzel talk about what was happening with her Husband Matt. In the past two weeks life has changed into high gear for Betsy. Matt has been diagnosed for the progressing into stage 7 for Alzheimer’s. Many things happen in stage 7. There could be difficulty in sleeping or swallowing. There could be some problems with communicating. These are just of the issues in Stage 7. You can find more information on the Internet or speak with your physician. For Betsy there will be more demands to help Matt. At some point Betsy will know when to call in Hospice for help. Betsy also talks about the problems with taking Matt to the ER. Betsy had to take a folder with documentation to be the spoke person for Matt. They spent hours in the ER. You hear what happened in the ER. Matt was so confused and seeing all that white did not help. Here is a question! Do you think there should be a separate unite for caring for the Dementia/Alzheimer patient. The ER is in High energy to save someone’s life. There is so much activity in the ER which necessary however to the Alzheimers Patient must be so frighted. As we move forward with the treatment in a Hospital setting, some changes may be necessary. What are your thoughts on this? This journey is so hard to deal with sometimes.
