Today’s interview is with an inspiring young man, Joshua who is President of The Be Strong Student State Representative Program which has more than 3,100 student leaders! Joshua talks about how Be Strong and LG Happiness Skills helped him in his life.

Some information for Joshua Apparicio. I’m Joshua Apparicio and I’m 15 years old. I’m the president of the Be Strong student leadership program – there are over 3,100 of us across the country. A couple of years ago my mom and I were homeless, experienced social injustice, bullying, and more, but we never gave up. Together we’ve faced challenge after challenge. Sometimes I still struggle with depression and anxiety, but my mom always knows how to get me connected to the help I need and we keep going. We’re a great team. Also, Joshua loves wearing Bowties.

Be Strong is a national organization designed to prevent bullying, isolation, and suicide in teens. With the COVID 19 pandemic, physical distancing, and unanticipated stressors are continuing and many people are seeking positive relationships, stronger connections, and enhanced mental well-being. Specifically, youth today are experiencing an array of factors from uncertainty, to
social isolation, anxiety, depression, and more. The nation’s health crisis has taken a psychological toll on people of all ages, but teenagers are especially affected.

LG and Be Strong wanted to recognize and do something special for our Be Strong student leaders. When we did a survey of student leaders, we found that many of them were in technology deserts and lacking the technology needed for an online school, as well as to carry out their goals of sharing critical mental health resources at a time when kids and parents need it
most. We asked LG for 10 laptops and they gave us 100! As a part of our partnership, they provided 100 LG gram laptops to our student leaders who really needed them to stay connected.
