In this episode of Chatting with Betsy, I had the privilege of speaking with Thomas Gagliano about healing negative self-talk — and I’m so grateful to share this conversation with you.

Thomas is someone who has worn many hats in his life: entrepreneur, family mentor, keynote speaker, best-selling author, and podcast host. With a Bachelor’s in Marketing and a Master’s in Social Work, he brings both professional insight and a deeply personal understanding to everything he does.

Thomas is someone who has worn many hats in his life: entrepreneur, family mentor, keynote speaker, best-selling author, and podcast host. With a Bachelor’s in Marketing and a Master’s in Social Work, he brings both professional insight and a deeply personal understanding to everything he does.

We talked about something that touches so many lives: how the messages we receive in childhood shape how we see ourselves — often leading to beliefs like “I’m not good enough.”
But our conversation wasn’t just about the pain. It was about hope — how we can face those old messages, validate our feelings, and create healthier, stronger ways of living.

The Problem was meThomas shared powerful insights from his two books: 📘 The Problem Was Me: How to End Negative Self-Talk and Take Your Life to a New Level (co-authored with Dr. Abraham J. Twerski)
📗 Don’t Put Your Crap in Your Kid’s Diaper: The Clean-Up Cost Can Last a Lifetime

Whether you’re a parent, a caregiver, or simply someone working on yourself, Thomas’s advice is heartfelt and practical. In our conversation, he reminded us how important it is to: ✔️ Build self-awareness
✔️ Reach out for help when we need it
✔️ Meet people where they are
✔️ Take real action to create change
