Sheila Wilson, the host of  Stop Health Care Violence, recently interviewed a nurse the was brutally assaulted by a patient in a psychiatric locked unit. In this interview, she tells Sheila she was with a patient and the next thing she remembered was waking up from being unconscious. She heard a person yelling he is killing the nurse! The voice she heard was from a patient and she stated if it wasn’t for him, she probably would be Dead! He saved my life!
Her story is frightening, that this type of violence could happen in a hospital. The care received from the staff was also appalling!
Be prepared to listen and try to understand how this happens in a hospital setting. Violence from the patients towards the staff is unbelievable but true.
